Generative AI Security
8FortiOS 8.0 helps companies safely use AI by showing which AI apps are being used and blocking unsafe ones. It allows trusted AI tools to work while protecting important company data from risky apps.
*Example: In a company, employees use an approved AI tool to write reports. One employee tries to use an unknown AI website and upload a confidential file. FortiOS 8.0 detects it and blocks the upload to keep the data safe, while still allowing the approved AI tool to be used.
Quantum Safe
FortiOS 8.0 improves security by using very strong and modern encryption methods. It helps protect data from future powerful computers by using “quantum-safe” security, making sure important connections and information stay safe.
Example: In a bank, employees log in to the system remotely. FortiOS 8.0 protects their login and data using advanced encryption. Even if a very powerful future computer tries to break the security, the system is designed to keep the information safe and secure. 
FortiAI-Assist for FortiGate (Native AI)
FortiAI-Assist for FortiGate is a smart AI helper that makes fixing firewall problems easier. It quickly finds issues and gives simple step-by-step instructions to solve them, saving time and reducing mistakes for IT admins.
Example: In a company, the internet suddenly becomes slow because of a firewall setting issue. Instead of checking everything manually, the admin asks FortiAI-Assist. The AI quickly identifies the problem and guides the admin step-by-step to fix it, so the network goes back to normal faster. 
FortiAI from Fortinet usually has a usage limit, for example around 2 million tokens per month depending on the license and service plan. This means there is a monthly cap on how much you can use the AI features.
On the other hand, when using OpenAI API, there is no fixed “global limit,” but usage is pay-as-you-go, and limits depend on your account, billing, and rate limits.
- With FortiAI: A company can use AI tools for troubleshooting and automation, but after reaching the monthly token limit (e.g., 2 million), they may need to wait for the next month or upgrade the plan.
- With OpenAI API: A developer can keep using the API as long as they pay for usage, but they must follow usage limits set by their plan (like requests per minute).
Model Context Protocol (MCP) and agent-to-agent (A2A)
MCP and A2A Detection in FortiOS 8.0 helps security teams see hidden AI activities. It shows how different AI apps and agents are communicating and helps separate safe (approved) AI use from unsafe or unauthorized AI behavior.
